2 Gbps Internet now in Japan

fibre

Sony has now installed the world’s fastest internet in Japan. This fibre based internet can downloads things at 2 gigabits per second (Gbps) which means that it is 20 times faster than the internet offerings in Australia. The name for this internet is Nuro although it is not as fast as some of the internet from Google in the USA that has a download speed of 1 Gbps it is still 100 times faster than the average home internet connection. Nuro is available to homes and smaller start-up businesses in Tokyo and 6 nearby areas. For the Japanese to get Nuro it would cost them a total of ¥57480 Yen which is equal to $692 in New Zealand. So my understanding is that a small part of Japan can now get very fast internet thanks to Sony’s Nuro internet but to get that fast internet they need to have lots of money and live in a certain area of Japan. This to me would mostly benefit Small businesses more than homes as it downloads things fast which would come in handy for the small business to be able to provide for their customers and it has a high price to get that fast internet.
